Background and Aims: The study aimed to examine the relationship between obesity and the taste threshold, emphasizing the potential consequences of altered taste perception on the change of eating habits and their harmful effects on obese people
Materials and Methods: The study was conducted descriptively-analytically on 72 people, including 36 obese people(BMI>30) and 36 people with normal weight(18.5
Result: There was a significant difference in the distribution of subjects by taste perception threshold at different concentrations of salty taste between obese and normal-weight individuals, and obese subjects had a higher taste threshold for salty taste than the normal-weight Group . P=0.001 about sweetness,sourness and bitterness There was no significant difference between the case and control groups (p>0.05).
Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the taste threshold of salinity in obese people was significantly higher than in normal- weight people .There was no statsisttically significants difference in the perception of other tastes between study groups.
