Abstract
Background & aim: Peri implantitis is known as a condition that progressive bone loss occurs around dental implants. Peri implantitis treatment with laser systems has become common treatment nowadays. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is the one of best technique in management of septic conditions around implants. The aim of this study is to determine effect of PDT on SLA titanium discs biocompatibility with evaluation of 63MG human osteoblastic like cell’s morphology and survival.
Material & Method: Samples are divided to 4 groups: 1) case group: discs that cured with PDT 1min Toluidine Blue (TBO) and 1 min laser radiation. 2)positive control group: discs with CHX treatment without PDT 3) Negative control group : discs without any treatment 4) Control group:51 ml osteoblatic like cells plus culture environment .63 MG human osteoblastic like  cells are cultured on discs .Cell morphology evaluated with SEM and cell survival rate evaluated with MTT analysis. ANOVA test was used for statistical analysis.
Results: survival rate at PDT group was 145/1-467/1, at positive control group was 165/1-516/1 at negative control was 116/1-514/1, control group with cells and culture environment was 0/010-0/030. There is no significant statistic relationship between groups (p<0.2)
Conclusion: Use of PDT in peri implantitis has not negative effect on SLA Ti discs biocompatibility behavior.
