The purpose of this study was to determine the prescribing patterns of drug among Yazd dentists. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, 500 prescriptions of dentists were evaluated by systemic random sampling. Each prescription was assessed on the basis prescriber gender and degree, the number of prescribed drugs, drug name and form, the readability of prescription, the spelling and dose of prescription drugs, the method of use, the number of prescribed drugs and interference between drugs. Data analysis was performed by using chi-square test. Results: The average of drugs per prescription was 2.7, the most common drug forms were capsule (33.4%) and tablet (26.1%) and the most frequently prescribed drugs were amoxicillin (21%) and ibuprofen (15.8%); also 59.2% of prescriptions had no errors. Conclusion: It seems that greater emphasis on prescribing principles during the dentistry and retraining courses could be further improve this outcome. %> http://jrds.ir/article-1-1158-en.pdf %P 40-45 %& 40 %!
