A pattern of mutual collaboration in the dental field between years of 2011 to 2015

ABSTRACT:
Background & aim: Collaboration between paper authors is an important and fundamental components in scientific world. Since the scientific collaboration is considered as a major index in science development, the goal of this research is investigating pattern of mutual collaboration in the dental papers which are published in Tehran colleges.
 
 
Materials and Methods:
Research has been done in a descriptive method. Scopus data bank has been selected for data gathering. Data gathering has been performed in 2 ways of “Objective Search” and “Single Search” using each individual dental colleges. NetDraw and UCINET platforms have been used to analyze the data.
 
Results
Results are indicating that papers in dental filed in Tehran have been following a progressive pattern within last 5 years. Also it shows that USA, Britain and Turkey are among the countries that had the most international collaboration with Tehran colleges. The average collaboration index is 0.73 which shows that the collaboration has been done in a group manner. 1.2% of papers have been published by individual researchers while 98.8% of them were published by groups of researchers. In accordance to network analysis index, Mr. Askari and Mr. Saghiri had a lead role in dental field publication.
 
Conclusion
It seems that 5 authors played a leading role in publishing papers in dental filed and authors from USA, Britain and Turkey had the most collaboration in co-published papers.
