Investigation the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and its related factors in general dentists of Qazvin in 2016

Abstract
Background & aim: Musculoskeletal disorders are the most occupational injuries have been reported in dentists. According to raising the diseases that dentists are prone to it daily, and given the importance of prevention of musculoskeletal disorders among dentists, the aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and its related factors in general dentists of Qazvin.
Material & Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, 50 general dentists of Qazvin were enrolled in 2016. A questionnaire in order to assess the body pain and discomfort that was developed by the Nordic standard questionnaire was used to investigate the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders. The data were analyzed by Chi square test in SPSS version20. In investigating the relationship between variables, the order of working habit is doing work with right or left hand.
Results: According to results, 62% of participants were male and 38% of them were female and mean of their age was 38.8 years old. The highest prevalence of discomfort was in the neck (62%) and the disorder in daily work due to neck pain (24%) had the most frequencies. Sex showed a significant relationship with the prevalence of discomfort in the shoulder, (p<0.01) age and body mass index with discomfort of lower back and knees, (p<0.04) working hours per day with pain in the neck, wrist, upper and lower back, (p<0.04) work experience with disorders of the neck, shoulder, lower back, hip and knee (p<0.03) and working habits with wrist discomfort. (p<0.00) 
Conclusion: it seems pain in the neck, wrist, upper and lower back are the most common musculoskeletal disorders in dentists and pain in neck was the most common factor of their daily dysfunction.
